SPC's Intellectual Property Court and AIPPI Look Forward to Closer Cooperation

The Intellectual Property Court of the Supreme People's Court and the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) showed interest in future exchanges.


On May 29, an AIPPI delegation led by President Renata Righetti visited the Intellectual Property Court and had a meeting with Luo Dongchuan, vice-president of the Supreme People's Court and head of the Intellectual Property Court.


Luo welcomed the AIPPI delegation and gave a brief introduction of the Intellectual Property Court. He pointed out that the court is a result of the comprehensive deepening of judicial reform and was established to support the national strategy of "building China into an intellectual property power and a powerful nation of science and technology".


He said that the AIPPI has had sound cooperation and exchanges with China for years and expressed his willingness to strengthen the relationship and to promote and improve the intellectual property rights (IPR) system.


Righetti appreciated the meeting. During the visit, she said that the court advances the unification of judgment criteria, which plays an important role in promoting modern development of the international IPR protection system. She looked forward to closer exchanges between the two sides in the future, she also said.


Also present at the meeting were staff members of the international cooperation department of the Supreme People's Court and judges of the Intellectual Property Court.
