China's latest progress in intellectual property rights (IPR) protection has gained recognition from international insiders related to intellectual property community.
Zhou Xiang, deputy chief judge of the Intellectual Property Court of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) attended 2019 International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) Trilateral Meeting jointly organized by AIPPI China, Japan and Korea on June 1 in Zhuhai, Guangdong province.
At the seminar, Zhou outlined the background and significance of the establishment of the SPC's Intellectual Property Court and introduced the court's organization, jurisdiction and innovative working mechanisms.
In addition, he also presented the latest progress of China's IPR protection which includes deepening IPR judicial reform and improving trial system and mechanisms, strengthening supervision and guidance to guarantee unification of trial criteria and pushing forward modern IPR trial procedures and capacity.
The seminar is focused on the latest progress of the three countries' IPR protection, patent eligibility and patentability of inventions related to artificial intelligence, and consumer survey evidence in trademark cases.
During the meeting, the delegation led by Zhou discussed hot issues on IPR protection with AIPPI President and staff and other participants from China, Japan and Korea. Attendees affirmed that the Intellectual Property Court plays an important role in encouraging and protecting innovation and indicates China's determination on IPR protection.
Presiding Judge Shen Hongyu and Judge Zhan Jingkang attended the meeting. About 200 experts, scholars, lawyers, agents and enterprise representatives in the field of IPR were also present.
