A delegation led by Shoichi Okuyama, President of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), visited the Intellectual Property Court (the IP Court) of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) on June 29.

He Zhonglin, First Deputy Chief Judge of the IP Court, met with the delegation and presided over the meeting.

He welcomed the delegation on their visit. He said that over the past four years, the IP Court has established good working relations with the AIPPI head office as well as its branch in China. The IP Court actively participates in various activities organized by the AIPPI, which promptly keeps the court updated about the global IP field.

He briefed the attendees on the basic achievements and typical cases of the IP Court since its establishment and expressed willingness to further strengthen communication and cooperation between the two sides.

Noting that he has visited the IP Court at the earlier stage of its establishment in 2019, Shoichi said that the latest visit has made him feel the court's significant achievements and the new accomplishments in China’s judicial protection of IP in the past four years.

He introduced the AIPPI’s IP research, voting mechanism for draft resolutions, and preparatory work for the 2024 AIPPI World Congress Hangzhou, adding that he hopes to continue close contact with the IP Court and further enhance cooperation in the international communication of China’s IP protection.

Prior to the meeting, the delegation visited the litigation service center and courtrooms, and watched a foreign-language promotional video about the court's three-year pilot work.

AIPPI Secretary-General Annie Siu-Ting Tsoi, Assistant Reporter General Lena Shen, and Executive Director Judith Willert, as well as Long Chuanhong and Lin Xiaohong, vice-presidents of AIPPI China, and Ma Hao, former president of the AIPPI, attended the meeting. The other participants of the meeting included relevant staff from the SPC's Bureau of International Cooperation and the IP Court.
