On Nov 16, the Supreme People's Court (SPC) held a meeting to launch a campaign to mobilize courts nationwide to enhance their capability of resolving disputes at the source and build themselves into demonstration courts of the "Fengqiao model", a good example of successful dispute resolution made by Fengqiao town in Zhuji city, East China's Zhejiang province. The campaign, approved by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, entails that by 2035, 100 courts across the country will be recognized as "Fengqiao-style courts" every two years.

In his speech, Zhang required courts across the country to thoroughly learn and understand the scientific connotations and practical requirements of the "Fengqiao experience" in the new era, to do a good job at applying the "Fengqiao experience" to facilitate litigation-source governance with an active judiciary, and to adopt systematic thinking and translate systematic advantages into efficiency in judicial practices. He also stressed the need to adhere to strict standards and adopt flexible and updated performance indicators during the campaign, so as to recognize courts with outstanding performance and fully tap the demonstration role of the "Fengqiao-style courts".
