Judge HE Juan from the SPC IP Court attended WIPO-hosted International Webinar

Ms. HE Juan, judge of the Intellectual Property Court of the Supreme People's Court, attended the second session of the Conversation on IP and Artificial Intelligence, a webinar hosted by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) from July 7 through 9.


She delivered her speech on the first day of the webinar, sharing her views on patent protection for AI-generated inventions.


The webinar was intended to improve the understanding of the relationship between IP-related laws and policies in connection with artificial intelligence.


The issues focusing on AI and IPR as discussed during the three-day event ranged from IP protection for AI-generated and AI-assisted works and inventions, the patentability, disclosure and guidelines of AI inventions, copyright in training data and further rights in data and trade secrets.


Chaired by François Rivasseau, the permanent representative of France to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva, the webinar was attended by more than 2,000 experts from 130 countries. WIPO Director General Francis Gurry addressed the opening ceremony.
